Siyo nigada, my name is Ashley Carter. I am Cherokee, live in Tahlequah and am Bird Clan. I work in the Grant Services department with Grant Management as a Grant Specialist. I have an Associate’s degree from Seminole State College in Biological and Social Sciences, and a Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University where I studied Teachers Education, Philosophy, and American Indian Sovereignty. I’ve also studied at Northeastern State University’s Masters of Science in American Indian Leadership and Higher Education Administration with my final thesis pending. I am grateful and honored to work with a phenomenal team working together in serving Cherokee people and assisting with providing important services for our community. I enjoy learning and living by our Cherokee cultural values with our Cherokee people here in the heart of Cherokee country every day. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, camping/hiking, making and gifting corn bead necklaces, and playing social & tournament style stickball games.
