The Cherokee Nation Business Technology Program prepares participants for jobs in all areas of entry-level office occupations. The program emphasizes computer literacy and customer service skills, utilizing both computer-based learning and in-person classes. Training is provided, and testing fees are covered for MOS 365 Certifications in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. These certifications are recognized throughout the professional world and give the participant an advantage in job placement. In addition, participants receive in-person Employability Skills training designed for practical applications in the workplace. Many opportunities exist for hands-on learning experiences in various office settings. Participants also have the opportunity to train in QuickBooks.
Business Technology participants who meet standards will be afforded an on-the-job practicum at the end of their training period. The Manager will coordinate the practicum with the training instructor and potential employers, including the Cherokee Nation. The length of the practicum period will be dependent on the requirements of the job level and the individual needs of the participant and may vary from participant to participant. This placement is designed to increase permanent placement by allowing potential employers the opportunity to observe participant skills on the job.
The program holds two classes per year, and each class runs for approximately 6 months.
