Cherokee Nation Provides Summer Employment Opportunities for Youth

TAHLEQUAH, OK — The Cherokee Nation is accepting applications for the Summer Career Leadership Program through Friday, May 16.

       The Summer Career Leadership Program is open to Cherokee youth ages 14-21. All applicants must reside within the 14-county jurisdictional area of the Cherokee Nation, meet Department of Labor eligibility criteria, meet income guidelines, have barriers to employment and be a citizen or member of a federally recognized tribe. Male applicants 18 and older must be registered with the Selective Service System or be exempt from registering. Priority will be given to applicants between the ages of 16-21 for employment placement, while applicants ages 14 and 15 will be given an opportunity to participate in an educational enhancement program. All applicants under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the application process.
